Episode Eight: Women Decide Things

I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.
— Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre

Women Decide Things - Agency and Action

This month's episode dedicated to art by and about women is all about Agency and Action. For the purposes of this episode, I'm defining agency as the capacity to make choice and act in ways that meaningfully shape our lives. Another way you could think of it is as the difference between a subject and an object. A subject is the thing in a sentence which acts, and the object is the thing which is acted upon.

2. Visual: Mary Consoles Eve

Sister Grace Remington, Mississippi Abbey

In a lovely turn of events, the Abbey where Sister Grace resides supports itself by making candy. You can find prints of this lovely image and order candy at their website below.

3. Musical: You Are Here

Wailin' Jennies

Agency begins with taking stock of your life. How will you make meaningful choices and actions to shape...

- Your relationships

- Your work

- Your soul, body, mind?

Always remember: You have a choice to make.
